KEHPCA’s intensive work over the past four years since establishment in 2007 has seen the number of free standing hospices in Kenya grow from seven to twenty three, reaching an estimated total of 30,000 patients each year, the number of palliative care units increase from eight to twenty one, and over 1,700 Kenyan health care professionals trained in aspects of palliative care (with 631 professionals reached in 2010 alone).
To enable this vital work to continue, as a registered non-profit charitable organisation, KEHPCA must raise 100% of its annual operating budget from charitable Trusts and Foundations, corporate partners and individual and organisational members. KEHPCA’s supporters are crucial partners in our work.
Ways to Support
As a Healthcare Institution
KEHPCA works to give Kenyan hospices and palliative care unit members ownership of the organisation that represents them nationally. Hospices are invited to play a direct role in informing KEHPCA strategy and advocacy through contributing expertise, participating and voting in the annual KEHPCA members AGM, participating in programmes of research, and nominating and electing KEHPCA Board members. Organisational membership is available at Ksh 10,000 per year, and provides a range of benefits, of which full details can be found on the membership page.[link to membership page]
As an Individual
By joining as a member of KEHPCA you will become part of the network and family of hospice and palliative care supporters and professionals in Kenya. With over xxx members, this vibrant community plays an important role in informing KEHPCA’s strategy and advocacy. Individual membership is available from Ksh 1,000 per year, and provides a range of benefits, of which full details can be found on the membership page.
Student Membership, with full benefits of individual membership, is available at Ksh 200.
TRUSTS AND FOUNDATIONS
Support from foundations, grant-making trusts, and independent grant-making bodies makes a vital difference in enabling KEHPCA’s work. Trust donations helped to build KEHPCA and they continue to help
maintain and develop our service provision.
Trusts and foundation support enables programmes involving key aspects of hospice and palliative care including education and training of health care professionals, providing technical assistance to hospices, service development, curriculum development, and advocating for inclusion of palliative care in government healthcare institutions.
Examples of recently funded projects can be found here in our Case Studies download.
We are grateful to our current supporters.
