They say life is from B to D, birth to death but what is between B and D? It is a “C”. C stands for choice. Choose to make the right choice by getting involved in the World Cancer Day. Don’t stay silent.
World Cancer Day is chances to reflect on what you can do, make a pledge and take action to do it. The reason why this day is important is because research has shown over 8.2m people die from cancer worldwide out of which every year 4 million people die prematurely (30-69 years).
The theme this year is “We can I can”, to explore how everyone together and individually can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer. Whether you do something as large as running your own World Cancer Day campaign, or as simple as sharing messages amongst your networks, every action has an impact. Show the world that we can, I can get involved in the fight against cancer.
There is various ways to participate in the World Cancer Day such as:
Cancer education materials launch and distribution to the public (2017).
This year the Ministry of health together with Kenya Network of cancer organizations (KENCO) has planned a launch and dissemination of materials with information about cancer targeting the general public.
Lifestyle
Make healthy lifestyle choices that include avoiding tobacco, getting plenty of physical activity, eating a healthy diet, limiting alcohol, and staying safe in the sun.
Learn
Learn about signs and symptoms of cancer and early detection guidelines because finding cancer early often makes it easier to treat.
Support through sport social media campaign
Take a photo of you, your team or your club with the #WeCanICan then post it by challenging the person to do the same.
Call on government
Call on governments to commit adequate resources to reduce cancer deaths and provide a better quality of life for patients and survivors.
Education

Cancer affects everyone in different ways; all people have the power to take various actions to reduce the impact that cancer has on individuals, families and communities. Make the right choice because life is like a coin .You can choose to spend it any way you wish but you only get to spend it is once ,so make the most of it count by making the world a better place.
