Dr. Asaph Kinyanjui serves as the Chair of the Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KEHPCA) Board, a position he has held since January 2025. His appointment follows a distinguished tenure as a Board member since March 2022, where he has played a key role in shaping the strategic vision and advocacy efforts of the organization. As Chair, Dr. Kinyanjui is leading KEHPCA’s mission to expand access to palliative care services across Kenya, while championing critical reforms and driving sustainable impact in healthcare.

With over 15 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Dr. Kinyanjui is an expert in strategic management, program development, and palliative care. He holds a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership (MML) from the Management University of Africa and a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Nairobi. His broad expertise spans across healthcare, advocacy, research, and capacity-building, making him a sought-after leader in both the Kenyan and international healthcare landscapes.

Dr. Kinyanjui’s leadership is exemplified through his role as Chief Executive Officer of Nairobi Hospice from 2021 to 2023, where he successfully spearheaded initiatives to enhance organizational sustainability and operational efficiency, expanding the scope and quality of care provided. Prior to this, he served for eight years as the Director of Programs and Education, and Research Officer at KEHPCA, where his visionary work was instrumental in scaling palliative care services across Kenya and beyond.

Dr. Kinyanjui is the Country Manager for the Operation Smile Foundation in Kenya, where he continues to drive initiatives focused on improving access to critical healthcare services. In addition, he is the Director of Roman Enterprises Limited. His leadership in both roles reflects his deep commitment to improving healthcare access, particularly for marginalized communities.

Dr. Kinyanjui draws his inspiration from his early upbringing in a rural setting, the values instilled by his teachers, and the guidance of his family, which continue to drive his commitment to improving healthcare access for marginalized communities.

As Chair of the KEHPCA Board, Dr. Kinyanjui is committed to advancing palliative care as a cornerstone of equitable healthcare in Kenya, working tirelessly to ensure that every individual, regardless of background, has access to compassionate and comprehensive care.
