This year saw the Eddah’s Hope Cancer Foundation, founded by Mr. Moses Issaji, take a step in the right direction by hosting the first of its kind in the region, the Inaugural Cancer Gala. Hosted at the prestigious Hotel Villa Rosa Kempinski, the team saw to a sitting of 180 guests.
The theme, dubbed ‘Hope beyond Measure’ was well highlighted. Intense prior planning saw to it that everything was a success. Bearing in mind that the organization is all about having fun fighting cancer, this was a great way to use fashion to bring together youth for a worthy cause. A scrumptious three course meal topped up by tasty desert was top of the menu. We were honored to be graced by the presence of The First Lady, Machakos County; Lillyane Ng’ang’a, Dr. Zipporah Ali, Executive Director of Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association who was the key note speaker.
Dr Ali spoke on life styles and cancer, and how they youth can take charge of their own lives as well as peer educators. Other guest included: the Chairperson of Kenya Cancer Association; Anne Korir; Mrs. Dorothy Nyong’o; Director, Africa Cancer Foundation, Bidanya Barassa; a colon cancer survivor; The Wings of Hope Team among others, as we sourced out for all information on cancer. A lot was mentioned on watching weight and diet as well as leading proper lifestyles. This was also a grand networking opportunity for all in attendance. The cancer gala is intended to be an annual event where Eddah’s Hope Cancer Foundation hosts, acknowledges and celebrates different individuals and corporates that will have actively participated throughout the year. The gist of it all is to encourage and promote participation and involvement in Volunteer programs, Donations & Contributions, Sponsorships and partnerships amongst others that are recognized and awarded at the gala.
